Exploring Structured Thematic Inquiry in Social Research

Bennie Berkeley
The overall objective of this paper is to demonstrate the relevance of deduction (with/out falsification) to qualitative research. It provides the reader with a concise synopsis of an alternative approach to qualitative research enquiry. The philosophy is supported by Hyde [1] who believes that both qualitative and quantitative research possess deductive and inductive components. It supports this by proposing that a quasi-deductive approach based on fo...

Quasinilpotent Part of w-Hyponormal Operators

Mohammad Rashid
For a w-hyponormal operator T acting on a separable complex Hilbert space H, we prove that: 1) the quasi-nilpotent part Ho(- λ) is equal to...

Comparison of the Affinity Chromatography and the Ion Exchange Chromatography in the Isolation of Bovine Immunoglobin G

Mrigendra Rajput, Shimaa M. G. Mansour, Lyle J. Braun, Mahmoud Darweesh, Neelu Thakur, Christopher C. L. Chase
The purified Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is effectively used in passive immunization. There are various methods to isolate the IgG from serum, with its own advantages and disadvantages. In the current study, a comparative efficacy of the affinity chromatography using Protein A—Sepharose and ion exchange chromatography using DEAE Sephadex A50 was done with regard to yield and purity of IgG. Both methods were found equally effective in isolation of pure IgG with similar recovery, indicating that resear...

Response of Different Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum Var. Durum) Varieties to Added Nitrogen Fertilizer

Miesho Belay
Twelve durum wheat genotypes were evaluated for their grain yield and related traits using two rates of nitrogen fertilizer application (69 kg N ha1 and 115 kg N ha1) in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiment was done on Vertisol at Adet Agricultural Research Center in the main cropping season 2009. All agronomic traits respond positively to applied nitrogen rates. The highest grain yield (33.8 Qt·ha...

Compact Operators on Hilbert Spaces

Sara Nozari
In this paper, we obtain some results on compact operators. More specially, we prove that if T is a unitary operator on a Hilbert space H, then it is compact if and only if H has a finite dimension. Also, we prove that, if H is a Hilbert space with Heine-Borel property, then .

A Comparative Study of the Advance of the Newtonian Component of Mercury’s Perihelion by Numerical Analysis and Perturbation Theory

Rajat Roy
A new numerical evaluation of the Newtonian component of Mercury’s perihelion advance over more than two centuries starting from about the year 2000 is made. Results are given for about the last 30 years of this interval. Comparison with perturbation theory calculation results indicates necessity of revision of previously held estimates of this quantity.

Hydrodynamical Phenomena at Preparation of Earthquake

Igor Petrovich Dobrovolsky
Variations in level of fluid in wells caused by Earth tides and earthquakes are governed by two leading processes: deformation of medium and filtration. These processes are described by identical systems of equations and are united by the term “hydrodynamical phenomena”. The exact solution is obtained for the problem of level variations in wells due to Earth tides. The similar problem is solved for short-term precursors of a tectonic earthquake. Results are consistent with data of field observat...

Influence of Spatial Comfort and Environmental Workplace Ergonomics on Job Satisfaction of Librarians in the Federal and State University Libraries in Southern Nigeria

Chinyere N. Ikonne, Haliso Yacob
This study examined the influence of spatial comfort and environmental workplace ergonomics on the job satisfaction of librarians in the federal and state university libraries in Southern Nigeria. The study adopted the survey research design. The total enumeration technique was used to survey the 500 librarians from the 37 federal and state universities libraries in Southern Nigeria. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data collected. The findings revealed that there was a positive re...

Entanglement Arrow of Time in the Multiverse

Salvador Robles-Pérez
In this paper, the model of a multiverse made up of entangled pairs of universes is presented. The arrow of time obtained from the principles of thermodynamics and the arrow of time given by the thermodynamics of entanglement for single universes are analyzed. The latter requires that the single universes expand once they have crossed the quantum barrier at the Euclidean regime. The possible relationship with respect to the growth of local structures in a single universe is also discussed.
