The leaves extracts of Corchorus
olitorius, the family Malvaceae, are commonly called khudra, the plant extensively used in Sudanese traditional
medicine. The Sudanese varieties are one of the best in the market, which prompted
investigation of leaves extracts. Some chemical analyses of the leaves have
been done such as determination of ash content and trace elements (Ca, Fe, Mg,
and Na) by atomic absorption spectrometry. The 96% ethanolic, Ethyl acetate and
chloroform extracts exh...

This paper presented analysis in
order to show the influence of welding pulse parameters on the microstructure
of the deposit, where a coating performed by GTAW-P process (Tungsten Arc
Welding with the Atmosphere Gas with deposition Powder). The coating was an
alloy of cobalt based on a substrate of a steel SAE 1020. The coating was
performed with pulsed current between 120 and 180 A, and the variations of
pulse parameters occurred between the time base and peak currents. Metallographic
analysis...

Artemisia annua is the source of artemisinin, an antimalarial drug which is effective
against multidrug-resistant strains of plasmodium, the malarial parasite.
Malaria has serious effects on morbidity and mortality thus negatively
impacting on agricultural production and food security. Although artemisinin
has been found to be a useful medicine; its production is very low in comparison
with what is actually needed to treat the worldwide threat of malaria. On the
other hand, the lower cont...

This study tackled portfolio selection problem for an insurer as well as a
reinsurer aiming at maximizing the probability of survival of the Insurer and
the Reinsurer, to assess the impact of proportional reinsurance on the survival
of insurance companies as well as to determine the condition that would warrant
reinsurance according to the optimal reinsurance proportion chosen by the
insurer. It was assumed the insurer’s and the reinsurer’s surplus processes
were approximated by Brownian motion ...

In the present study, a survey was done to mainly
focus on piscine diversity in the wetlands of Coimbatore District, because it is
considered as a good indicator of balanced and healthy ecosystem. The present survey
study has shown that selected sampling site (Perur, Muthanankulam and Kurichi)
wetlands supported 40 species of fishes belonging to 4 orders 07 family and 21 species
during the study. Among the species, Cyprinidae was the most dominant group representing
08 species, Siluridae with 03...

The aim of this work was to show the effect of change in pH on removing
turbidity, the concentration of turbidity (100, 300) NTU, where the turbidity
was removed by using activated carbon column (height 11 cm and internal
diameter 8 cm) and contained a cotton filter in the bottom of it, pH range (5,
7, 10), by using pH adjustment (HCL, NaOH), alum and ferric chloride was used
as additive. The results showed that the activated carbon had excellent results
for removal turbidity, and the removal ef...

Mapping studies of phytocenoses at environmental interface require a set
of approaches and methods providing obtaining of detailed information on
vegetation structure and dynamics under contrast environmental conditions.
Phytocenoses at environmental interface can be a regional model for indication
of current processes and of past changes in vegetation structure under different
environmental conditions. Mapping of environmental interface cenoses allows
revealing the peculiarities of phytocenoses...

Stress is not a useful term for scientist because it is such a highly
subjective phenomenon that has no single definition. It is always seen from a
physicist and psychological perspective. Stress is a Latin word “stringer”,
meaning to draw tight and it was used in the 17th century to describe hardships
and afflictions. By 18th century stress denoted force, pressure strain or
strong efforts referring primarily to an individual producing strain. Profounder
of this view indicates that an individual...

Race is not a leadership challenge in culturally monolithic societies. In
the United States, Caucasian leaders do not have to deal with the challenge as
much as their African American counterparts. Society seems to accept their role
as leaders more readily than they accept Black, Hispanic, Asian or other
minority leaders. Leaders from these groups have to deal with an added
challenge of coping with racism. This paper focuses on this challenge of
racism, especially among African American Leaders,...
