An Overview of Gombrich’s Research on the Ideological Coherence of Leonardo da Vinci’s Manners of Motion in Water and Air Manuscript

Jiapan Zhong, Shuhan Chen
In Leonardo da Vinci’s manuscripts, the way of motion in water and air appears most frequently. This caught Gombrich’s attention. Art and science complement each other in advancing human civilization. After the Renaissance, the field of natural science throughout Europe seemed to be on the rise, and many masters who screened our physics textbooks emerged. The field of fluid mechanics is no exception. However, in order to explain and calculate the flow scientifically, the great gods selectively i...

Extraction, Synthesis and Characterization of an Alkyd Resin from Sesamum indicum Seed Oil

Kalu M. Kalu, Michael Emmanuel, Emmanuel K. Chinedu, Ayodele Akinterinwa, Uhiene Titus, Rome Kenneth, Naibi A. Haruna, Buba A. Aliyu
The synthesis and characterization of Sesamum indicum seed oil have been thoroughly examined. The seed oil was extracted and utilized in formulating alkyds with varying oil lengths of 40%, 50%, and 60%. The in-situ process for the synthesis was analyzed, revealing significant properties associated with the different oil lengths, including changes in degree of polymerization, average molecular weight, and, notably, the extent of reaction favoring the 40% oil length alkyd resin. Furthermore, the c...

Regression Modelling of Electricity Distribution Statistics and Stock Exchange Market Capitalisation in a Developing Country: Evidence from Botswana (2012-2021)

Tapiwa Gande
The stock exchange and its performance are important indicators of the economic health of an economy. Electricity generation capacity supports industrialisation. National electricity distribution on the other hand, however, even when mediated with electricity imports to augment a low generation capacity, can complicate both manufacturing and non-manufacturing companies’ desire to operate in an economy which is attempting to industrialise. This is compounded if generation is not matched to consum...

Effect of Five Commercial Rooters and a Formula in Jalapeño Pepper Seedlings

Salomón Buelna-Tarín, Celia Selene Romero-Félix, Bardo Heleodoro Sánchez-Soto, Gabriel Antonio Lugo-García, álvaro Reyes-Olivas, Cosme Bojórquez-Ramos
The jalapeño pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is important for the uses it possesses, in addition to being a source of employment. Due to its importance, it is necessary to produce quality seedlings, which own the characteristics that allow them to adapt in the field or greenhouse at the time of transplantation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of five nutrient-rooters and a formula on the growth and accumulation of dry root weight, dry stem weight and dry leaf wei...

An Analytical Model Modifications and Adaptations for Malware Spread and Containment in Communication Networks

Moses Okechukwu Onyesolu, Charles Okechukwu Ugwunna
Due to the escalating wave of malware in communication networks, continuous/discrete differential equations have been used in traditional analytical models to better understand the patterns of malware spread. Networks for local area networks, networks for metropolitan areas, and broad area networks were all utilized in this study. In particular, we developed the vulnerable-latent-contagious-recovery-inoculation (VLCR-I) model as well as built its computational equivalents in MathLab simulator. F...

Contributions of Medicinal Plants in the Treatment of Oral Diseases

Jalila Dakkaki, Samir Ibenmoussa, Mustapha Sidqui
In dentistry, herbal medicine naturally falls within the professional capacity of stomatologists or dental surgeons and can be particularly useful. The use of medicinal plants, for preventive, therapeutic purposes or for oral hygiene, falls within the professional capacity of doctors-stomatologists and dental surgeons. But they have to be competent in the matter, especially since no plant is harmless. After regulatory information, for documentary purposes, some examples of use are reported and, ...

Innovative Inorganic Insulation Materials (Mineral Slag Based Geopolymers)

Konstantinos M. Sakkas, Christos Georgopoulos, Lazaros Krimatoglou, Nektarios Krimatoglou
With the increase of energy price, the retrofitting of existing buildings with innovative insulation materials remains a key issue. Although a variety of insulation materials there is always a need for the development of new materials with improved thermophysical properties and low cost. Inorganic polymer materials are promising from this point of view. They are incombustible combining excellent physical and thermal properties with low production cost and significant environmental benefits. In t...

Improving Least-Squares Surface Reconstruction through Fourth-Order Adams Method and Iterative Compensation

Geng An, Fenlin Yang, Guangying Liu, Feifan Fu
The Southwell model stands as a prominent algorithm within the realm of the least squares surface reconstruction, finding wide application. This algorithm boasts notable merits, including rapid computation and an approximation of the reconstructed surface that closely mirrors reality. Nevertheless, it is not without its drawbacks, as it exhibits substantial reconstruction errors and proves to be susceptible to the presence of noisy data. To enhance the precision of the reconstructed object’s thr...
