Chang Chien’s Thought on Education

Shun-Chih Sun
Chang Chien (1853-1926) was a native of Nant’ung, Kiangsu. In spite of the various works on Chang Chien, which testify to the significance of his role in modern China, Chang Chien’s thought on education is still not well-researched. The purposes of this paper are firstly, to analyze Chang Chien’s thought on education systematically and clearly in the hope that it may become a useful reference for researchers on modern China, and secondly, to stimulate scholars for further research. Against Geometry: Nonstandard General Relativity

Gunter Scharf
We show that the Schwarzschild solution can be embedded in a class of nonstandard solutions of the vacuum Einstein’s equations with arbitrary rotation curves. These nonstandard solutions have to be taken as physical, if dark matter as needed in the standard theory cannot be found. As a consequence general relativity is considered as a classical field theory in Minkowski space and not as a geometric theory in the sense of Einstein. Assuming an asymptotically flat rotation curve and introducing a ...

Association of TCF7L2 Gene Polymorphisms with T2DM in the Population of Juana Koslay, San Luis Province, Argentina

Susana Siewert, Federico Marquez, Gisela Mendoza, Gustavo Fernandez, Irma Gonzalez, Marta S. Ojeda
Polymorphisms in the gene coding for transcription factor 7 like 2 (TCF7L2) are recognized as the strongest common genetic risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) across multiple ethnicities. This study was conducted to evaluate an association between TCF7L2 variants and diabetes susceptibility in the population of Juana Koslay, San Luis, Argentina. We genotyped 2 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) rs7903146 and rs12255372 in controls and diabetic subjects. Association with T2DM was ...

Primers for Dengue Virus Strains Based on Their Sequence Variability

Raghavendra Krishnappa, Rajendran Paramasivam
Since DENV-1, 2, 3, and 4 determine the strains for dengue virus, their gene sequence can be used as marker for diagnosis, amplifying and genotyping subtypes in molecular screening reaction which includes RT-PCR, real-time RT-PCR, nucleic acid sequence-based amplification, microsphere- based duplexed immunoassay, and DNA microarrays. There are many gene based PCR diagnostic kits available for screening and quantifying dengue virus, which one to choose? Decisions on choosing the diagnostic kit ar...

An Analysis of Urban Management in Zhejiang Province—Based on the Granger Causality Test and VAR Model Analysis

Haisheng Chen
Based on granger causality test and VAR (the Vector autoregressive model, Vector autoregressive model (VAR) is usually used in related time series prediction and stochastic disturbance on the variable system) analysis, the article finds the relationship among labor transfer, residents’ consumption and economic growth. On the one hand, the labor transfer is the granger reason of residents’ consumption. On the other hand, economic growth is the granger reason of labor transfer at the 5% significan...
