This paper aims to achieve
the prepared functional coatings containing a specific ratio of calcium and phosphorus, and guide
the rational allocation of chemical reagents. On the medicinal titanium alloy
surface the calcium biocoating and phosphorus biocoating were fabricated by
micro arc oxidation (MAO) process. The coating morphology and elemental
composition were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and
energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Wear resistant test on the coating
surface ...

Laser ultrasonic (LUS) receivers based
on photorefractive (PR) materials are contactless and adap- tive
interferometers, which are used widely for materials characterization. Here, we
present a simple LUS interferometer at 532 nm operating wavelength based on
organic PR polymer composites (PVK/ECZ/C 60) doped with the nonlinear
chromophore 4-[4-(diethylamino)-2-hydroxyben- zylideneamino] benzonitrile (Dc).
A picoseconds laser at 1064 nm wavelength is used to generate ultrasound pulses

The
study was devoted to the investigation of the influence of the carbon reducer’s
surface on the rate of the copper removal (in the form of a copper-reach alloy,
Cu-Pb-Fe) from the slag produced in the flash direct-to-blister process at the
Glogów smelter in Poland. The
slag used in this work was taken from the direct-to-blister Outokumpu flash
furnace at the smelter in Glogów. Graphite penetrators of different surfaces
were used as the slag reducer, and the experiments were carried out at 157...

The article reflects the results of the study of the
process of hardening of steels radiation fiber laser and the increase of
productivity of process of laser hardening due to implementation of fiberoptic
lasers instead of CO 2 and the increase of the coefficient of
absorption of laser radiation and the exclusion of the necessity to use absorbing
coating. The research studied the structure of the hardened layer, compared
with the structure of the obtained on CO 2 laser, and p...

This study deals with the grinding of mill scale in
a laboratory ball mill for different milling time then briquetted by using 2% molasses
as a binder and investigates the effect of grinding of mill scale for different
time on the physicochemical properties and the reduction degree of the mill
scale briquettes via hydrogen. Diffusion process control equation was applied and the energy of activation was calculated = 28.33 kJ/mole.

Improved laboratory protocols for convenient and rapid transformations are highly desired in modern synthetic chemistry. Microwave irradiated reactions have received considerable attention in recent years and it is a subject of intense discussion in the scientific community. Microwave heating is more efficient in terms of the energy used, produces higher temperature homogeneity and is considerably more rapid than conventional heating methods. This technique as an alternative to conventional ener...

A fire resistant metakaolin geopolymer is developed
and its performance under thermal loading is examined in this paper. The
geopolymer was prepared by mixing metakaolin, doped with solid SiO 2,
with a highly alkaline potassium hydroxide aqueous phase in order to create a
paste that was subsequently cured at 70℃ for a certain period
of time. The addition of solid SiO 2 was important in order the
geopolymer developed to be fire resistant for temperatures up to 1350℃. The mecha...

The elaboration of a polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) and solvent
impregnated resin (SIR) XAD7 with sorptive characteristics intended for removal
of heavy metals was investigated. Bis (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)
monothiophosphinic acid (Cyanex 302) was used as an acidic extractant. The
sorption of Zn(II), Cu(II) and Fe(II) ions onto the PIM and SIR was
investigated and optimized as a function of contact time, pH, extractant amount
and concentration of metal ions. Both the PIM and the SIR showed reas...

Properties of hemp fibre reinforced
unsaturated polyester composites following exposure to accelerated weathering
conditions have been studied. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and UV radiation plus
condensation resulted in immediate loss in weight which stabilised following
prolonged exposure times. The same exposure led to initial decline in tensile
properties of hemp fibre composites, but the decline in properties also

Zinc
oxide (ZnO) thin films have been deposited using a SILAR (Successive Ionic
Layer Adsorption and Reaction) technique, which is based on the alternate
dipping of substrate in the solution and distilled water. The thin films were
grown on copper, silicon and glass substrates. The precursors for ZnO films
were diluted aqueous solution ZnSO4 complexed with NH3.
The films were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron micr ...
